potty training became overnight more successful...

November 5, 2013

We were having problem with potty training and at the same time just who was the boss in the house. The first day we put the meal time regime in practice ie we had ours in his presence and then he got his – a reversal of previous behaviour. straight away he got the message about who was the pack leader and his potty training became overnight more successful. Still working on some things like nibbling toes and sometimes just not wanting to come in when we want but hey he is only a pup!

I feel he is well on his way...

November 5, 2013

My pup Wrigley was given to me. He was is 8 years old and never had any or very minimal training, not even potty trained. all I knew is when he came in to be groomed he was a perfect dog so I knew he couldn’t be stupid and could be taught. I started looking for answers and found westie savvy. My dog is not perfect, but I feel he is well on his way.

we could have used Westie Savvy back then...

April 29, 2013

Westies are a unique and often “challenging” breed of dog. We love ours dearly but really have had a need for “tailored” information and support. The puppy years for us were very difficult and we could have used Westie Savvy back then! He is almost 8 years old and we still have things to work on with him. We know they are a great breed and want to be able to fully enjoy ours!

found Westie Savvy very helpful...

April 29, 2013

It has been a long time, years since I had a part in training a puppy. I found Westie Savvy very helpful, not only did it give me the do’s and don’t in training, but it explained the reasoning behind it. I love the emails sent because they have been reminders about the training and seem to be running right with where we are in training our Westie. I would encourage you to purchase this especially if you have never had a Westie.

Bettie Wilson, Brentwood TN USA

best source of information we have ever had...

April 29, 2013

Westie Savvy is of a very high standard and all new (and possibly existing westie owners) should obtain the information. Westies are not easy to train, they have a mind of their own (we have had 4 and still learning about them) Westie Savvy is the best source of information we have ever had.

Westie savvy seemed to have the answers...

April 29, 2013

I found Westie savvy on the internet as it was taking a little longer to house train our pup, Skye, than expected. I thought that we were doing something wrong and felt that pang of frustration. We seemed to take one step forward and two back. We trained her exactly the same as our last Westie but as we know, no two dogs are alike. There was also a little unwanted behaviour I wanted to correct without having to shout etc and Westie savvy seemed to have the answers.

Julie Burgess, Biggleswade Bedfordshire United Kingdom

we've got an ever improving little westie...

April 29, 2013

I like the fact that this book is dedicated to westie’s as pets and not show dogs. (I bought a book previously that was all about showing and therefore no help at all.)This book has reinforced some of my teaching methods and also given me new methods and ideas. The emails are helpful to keep things fresh in my mind, and it’s nice to know that I can ask for a bit of advice every now and then.  My westie – Jock, is only 6 months old but already has his own definitive personality. He’s loveable, playful, feisty and fun. He makes me smile all day from our morning cuddles, to when he greets me after work,  to the excitement when we tell him its time for a walk. He loves to play with his ‘cousin’ (my brothers dog) and he lives to meet and greet other dogs too. I was a bit wary of his feisty attitude at first around other dogs, but I’ve definitely found the book helpful in being able to deal with this.  Our whole family loves Jock and I’m glad to say we’ve got an ever improving little westie. Thank you for your help.

April 29, 2013

In the case of a rescue of any age – being given the opportunity to have help in recognizing character issues associated with a Westie. Having a helping hand from those in the know makes for a very happy Westie and a very happy parent. Thank you!

Westie Savvy helped me with my Yorkie communication also...

April 29, 2013

I was looking for a Westie dog because all I had were 4 Yorkies in my day. I did not have any knowledge of their tenacity – Westie Savvy helped me with my Yorkie communication also – not just Westie.

book has been a great help...

April 29, 2013

Just started googling westies and came across your site. Thought your book would be handy,as we had heard so many different things about these dogs. We have often referred to the book since we bought our little one home. It has been a great help and we love receiving your emails and tips. We just love our wee Hamish to bits, he’s such a delight.

advice on housetraining has been excellent...

April 29, 2013

Your advice on housetraining has been excellent. I was struggling to get Benji to toilet outside and was getting very frustrated as I didnt know what i was doing wrong but after following your advice he is learning that he goes outside to toilet and he has being doing great. Benjis recall wasnt the best either and I was worried every time I let him off the leash that he wouldnt come back to me but your advice has been great and now when I shout for him to come back to me he does. Thank you for producing such a helpful and easy to use guide, its been so helpful to me and Benji.

full of "aha" moments...

April 29, 2013

We have been owned two westies. Our new member of our family was born 10 days ago and he will be joining us in about 7 weeks. Just because you have owned a westie does not mean you “know” a westie. I have found this book full of “aha” moments. It has also refreshed our memories on the care and training. I would recommend this book to all who have had a westie, have embarked on the exciting time of bringing a westie into your family for the first time or those thinking about adopting a westie. Great Info.

introduction into our household made easier...

April 29, 2013

I have found Westie Savvy very helpful. We have owned a Westie before but not a male. They are very different than the female we had and the information supplied in your book has made the introduction of two Westie male puppies into our household a lot easier than it would have been without the information you supplied.

slowly teaching myself how to be a better owner...

April 29, 2013

II found Westie Savvy while reseching online because I was researching the breed because taking my pet to training classes was not being very beneficial to me or my Westie. I am a older person and was finding out that maybe I was looking so hard for a companion dog and was very attracted to this breed’s cuteness that I hadn’t did any research on the breeds temperament. So with the support of this book and e-mails I am slowly teaching myself how to be a better owner…..

my westie is getting much better...

April 29, 2013

My husband bought my Westie for me so I wouldn’t be alone. My husband is a civilian contractor in Afghanistan and only home for 2 weeks every 5 months. Happened upon Westie Savvy on line by chance. Found I needed alot of help!! I’ve trained Danes my whole life as an adult. But found out quickly Westies are sooo cute but get into everything. And the mouthing they do have riddled my arms. Powder, my Westie is now 3 mths. old and getting much better. Have a long way to go. But the information in the books have helped tremendously. Thank You so much.

already seeing positive outcome...

April 29, 2013

The reason why I purchased this book is because I had been told about it by a friend who knew some one who had the book. I have had my pup now for approximately 2 weeks and I am already seeing positive out comes from what I have read from the book. My wife is also reading the book and this is increasing the interest for having a westie as there is so much to learn for both dog and owner.

turned Molly into a happy adorable little girl...

April 29, 2013

Since bringing home my first westie (Molly) I soon realised that she would soon take over the house hold including being boss over a german shepherd and a labrador and had to do something as my usual methods for some of her training were failing badly and she was running a mock, so I searched the internet and found Westie Savvy (my savior) I immediately put to use the advice that I received and to my delight found it worked now we are all happy and my westie is a pleasure to be with although still working on a few things but glad to say getting there thanks to Westie Savvy which turned Molly into a happy adorable little girl instead of a little horror. Thank you.

Tick Tip...

April 29, 2013

We live near a wooded area with lots of long grass and, unfortunately, Whizz picked up a tick. I tried to twist it off but some of the tick’s head must have got stuck because Whizz came down with a nasty infection which cost me a trip to the vets. Since then I have read your Westie Savvy guide and discovered the easy way to remove ticks. Now I always have some Vaseline in the cupboard!

Now I’ve corrected my mistake, Rosie comes running...

April 29, 2013

Rosie was such a lovely dog except for one thing – if I let her off the leash she would never come back when I called her. I must have spent hours searching for her and chasing after her but even though I would then put her straight back on the leash to teach her a lesson, she still wouldn’t come back the next time. It wasn’t until I read Westie Savvy that I realised that I had been giving her completely the wrong message! I felt very foolish! Happily, now I’ve corrected my mistake, Rosie comes running as soon as I call her and our walks are a lot more pleasurable.

Digging Solution...

April 29, 2013

I never thought I would actually be encouraging my dog to dig holes but your suggestion of creating the doggy sand pit has not only saved my back yard but it’s also given Roly hours of pleasure!

Your advice has been invaluable and I saw a massive change...

April 29, 2013

For such a small dog, Winston certainly had a lot of attitude. Every time I took him out for a walk, he would start barking ferociously and yanking on the leash as soon as he saw another dog approaching. It was embarrassing and annoying and I found our walks together really stressful. I was even getting up at 5am to try and take Winston for a walk before anyone else was around! Your advice has been invaluable and I saw a massive change in Winston as soon as I modified my own reactions to him. Thank you so much!
